My Sleeping Habits

I learned a lot in this text, but I think I don’t really need to change a lot of things about my sleeping habits, except that sometimes I go to bed too late. This just requires a little more attention and efforts to apply. My sleeping cycle seems... normal. The week, I usually sleep 7 to 9 hours. I finish my days around 24:00 and I wake up at 7:50 in the morning for the school. The week-end, I go to bed later and I wake up when I want, around 10:00 to 11:00 hours AM. Each day, I start to feel sleepy about 23:00 and I would go to bed at 23:30. I feel sleepy sooner than normal when I did sports that day. But, each night, I can’t stop to surf on the internet or to game. Sometimes, I have big homework to do for the next day. I am so lazy and sleepy that I don’t want to brush my toots and to go to bed... upstairs. So I go sleep later and later. Once in the bed, I normally sleep easily. Half an hour and I sleep. My internal clock is okay and I don’t have the feeling that I have problems with it.
I don’t think that this affect so much my performances. There is only about one week a month or two where I am tired and 50% and less productive in class. I have phases that I am really sleepy, especially after long weekends when I habituate myself to another sleep cycle. Concerning my social life and my family, I think it doesn’t change anything. Finally, I have no important sleeping problems. I’m a “normal student”.

Me in 10 years...

24 September, 2020 – somewhere in US

This morning I woke up, normally, like all other days. But this day could be different than others, I’m in love with a girl at my work and it’s possibly possible! Strangely said no? So, I took the bus to go at my work. I’m currently working on a new movie for a new company, DreamFx. In this movie, a new technology exists, like in almost all science-fiction movies.  Here is a brief summary...

When you come to live, you get an operation in your brain and you also get a plug on your neck to receive and send some information, this is linked to all the nerve in your neck. Then, you can be in a computer simulation and be the principal character of a movie; you can also play video games... You can feel the hurt, smell, touch things... you are totally in the movie, the signal your brain exchange with your body is changed for the computer signal. The new computers interfaces have changed and you’re like in the computer, you are the computer. The Windows operating system is replaced by Room, that is entirely 3D, and you can feel things, you can move in the “space”. The things in the room depend of your head and your hard drive. The computer doesn’t have a graphic card, or a processor, all the computer is linked with your head, and is using your head. You can buy accessories to have a better immersion, like an external graphic card, or more space to stock things because a head is not enough... Also, the expression “surf on the internet” can became truth, the internet is now a real highway. You can also write books by only thinking to the scenario, exchange ideas and knowledge only with a bunch of wires; the school can now make learn the kids faster. You can also plug an auxiliary hard drive to you and you can know all the information on it, as you keep it plugged. You can even link yourself to another person and see the files he recorded in his brain. This could be good to detect lie in a murder investigation. All that stuff is amazing, now everything is possible. BUT, the bad thing is that viruses always exists, you can become a “zombie” while some steal your credit card number, you are really more sensible to the publicity because they can be shown directly in your head. You can even starve and die because you don’t feel your real body once you feel the things in the computer. So, all the people are starting to use that technology abusively and they are not living anymore in the real life. So there is another risk. The entire movie is build around that. By the way, this technology is announced to probably come to live in 10-15 years, and accessible for everyone in 25 years! This will be in 2045, and the “goal” of this movie is to prevent that this really happen and also to make people dream. The government and the company currently developing this are staying really quiet. There is something wrong.

I’m charged to do many of the 3d special effects, with that girl I mentioned later. She is working on a big part of the movie, like me. She finds the textures and the needed resources to build the specials effects, sometime getting royalty-free stuff on internet, sometime paying for existing stuff... The company also employed photographs, cameramen, 3D modellers and a lot of people to bring that stuff. Her work is to class all the resources and to organise them in folders.  She also needs to make adjustments, like when you record a fire explosion on a black background, you need to cut the black off and add a transparency channel to the picture or video, for that I can add it easily to the scene while working.

Me, I work in close collaboration with her. I’m charged to check all this stuff and ask for more if needed, and after I bring all this together to create: some visual and special effect. I now have a great job, well paid, in US. I am already working with a high salary, because I have more experience than the ones that only did the formation: I have the passion, and I started early at 14 years old to do these specials effects.
